THREE POINTS OF CONTACT
15th - 26th January 2013
von Calhau!
Three Points of Contact is a new roving residency bringing together artists from Portugal, York, Glasgow and Penzance
In its pilot year, Portuguese duo von Calhau! has been selected to work with artists in each region. The residency sets up as an experimental space in each gallery where artists can research and develop ideas through collaborative experiments, dialogue and public interaction.
The three-month residency began in York (13–23 November 2012), then moved to Glasgow (3–14 December 2012), with the final stage here in Penzance. Alongside Marta and João from von Calhau! two artists from each region have been travelling to the other venues, building an evolving network. The artists working at The Exchange include Penzance-based Ann Haycock and TAaP (Richard Ballinger and Jesse Leroy Smith), Martha Jurksaitis from York and Mark Vernon from Glasgow.
The gallery is open throughout the period of the residency and visitors are invited to observe, contribute or participate as they wish.
Three Points of Contact has been generously funded by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and is devised and led by curators Judit Bodor (York, independent), Jenny Brownrigg (The Glasgow School of Art) and Blair Todd (Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange).
