SIMON JAQUES: MOBILE PHONE PANORAMA
As part of the redevelopment, five artists were commissioned to respond or contribute to the construction of the new galleries.
Roxane Permar invited Newlyn residents to discover the building through hard hat tours with builders, engineers and architects. Permar will be in residence in the new education space as she archives the gathered information.
David Kemp communicates his ideas through collecting junk. Kemp has designed a kinetic Donations Box for the Newlyn Art Gallery reception area.
Low Profile has extracted a list of 4356 words from Newlyn Art Gallery's comments books. The result is a new publication 'Worth the Trip', from which they'll give a reading in the gallery's resource area.
Simon Jaques has used the camera on a mobile phone to record the transformation of the old telephone exchange into a visual art gallery. The construction images are presented on mugs for the cafe and are now available as a set of four in the shop.
Peter Freeman's lighting system dramatically enhances the undulating glass facade along Princes Street. The computerised display will highlight events and mark changes in the gallery's exhibitions and education programme.
